Over 45 years ago, Fulton Supply and Recycling, Inc., was founded by Edwin and Jane Fulton. Edwin had always been involved in recycling and collecting scrap metal as a youth, selling to a local neighborhood recycler for spending money. After Edwin and Jane married, they continued to ‘scrap’ growing a small dream into a global business.
The location on Fort Worth Drive, on the south side of Denton, Texas was chosen and purchased from the estate of Jane’s grandparents as it afforded access to the railroad which was necessary for a growing recycling yard. In 1981, a small existing scrap yard was purchased in downtown Gainesville, Texas and has since been expanded. In the early 90’s a retail steel sales location, Fulton’s Metal & Hardware was added, 1-1/2 miles south of the Denton recycling facility located on Fort Worth Drive.
Fulton Supply and Recycling, Inc.thrived as a family business with both locations expanding under Edwin’s expertise and knack for understanding the “workings” of the recycling industry. Edwin traveled all over the United States, Mexico and China. In 1997, the Gulf Coast Chapter of the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries honored Edwin with the Israel Proler award for outstanding contributions and service to the recycling industry.
Edwin passed away in November, 2007. Fulton Supply and Recycling continues to recycle locally, nationally and internationally. Jane has since retired but continues to contribute to the recycling industry serving as the scholarship chairman for the Gulf Coast Chapter of ISRI.
Fulton Supply and Recycling, Inc. was “green” before “green” was cool.
